Original Color

Hi!
I live in Brasil and my brother is retoring a 1974 Yamaha RD350A.
We don't know the original tank color.
Is there a way to discover the original color by the frame number?
Our frame and engine number is in the range shown in the table at Cyclerestorer.com, associated with Ruby Red color.
But it is the only color mentioned for this bike in 1974...
Is that table true about color x frame number?
Thanks!
Nice site!

Marco,

I don't believe the serial numbers were sophisticated back then to determine paint color. But, each year there were specific paint colors for each model. You would probably be better off trying a site focused on the RD like:

http://www.aircooledrdclub.com/

I usually end up sending an original piece to the painter. Many times I find an NOS (New Original Stock) painted piece on ebay and buy it, like a headlight ear. Then, I send that piece to the painter for a match. Would be nice to have a field for paint numbers on the site, some day I may add that.

Good luck!
