I've just had some great success using sandpaper to polish the aluminum casings on my RE5 Suzuki. I starter with 220 wet sand paper, then 400, then 800, then 1000 and finally 1500 grit. It came out pretty nice. I would like to get 2000 grit if I can find it. I finished it off with Mothers Aluminum polish.

For the lettering on the logo I used nail polish, worked great.

Found some 2000 grain sandpaper from Advance Auto. That worked even better. Found that if I hit the sanded piece with a buffing wheel it came up super. After the sanding the buffing was very short.
